Patr is built by Imagine Engine LLC. Your privacy isn’t a feature — it’s the architecture.
Patr reads your iMessage history from the local Messages database (chat.db) on your Mac. This data is read directly from your file system using Apple’s security-scoped bookmarks. You grant access through a standard macOS file picker — we never access anything you haven’t explicitly selected.
Everything. Your messages, your archive, your bookmarks, your tags — all of it lives in a local database on your machine. We do not upload, sync, transmit, or store your message data anywhere. There is no cloud component. There is no account. There is no telemetry.
When you enter a license key to unlock Patr, the app contacts our server (patr.app/api/validate) to verify your purchase. This request sends only your transaction ID — not your name, email, messages, or any personal data. If you’re offline, the app uses its last known validation result.
If you choose to use the AI Analyze feature, Patr sends a selection of messages you explicitly choose to OpenAI’s API using your own API key. We do not see, store, or have access to your API key or the messages you analyze. This feature is entirely optional and user-initiated.
Patr requests access to your Contacts to display names in the conversation list. This data is read locally and never transmitted.
Purchases are processed by Paddle (paddle.com), our merchant of record. Paddle collects your payment information directly — we never see your credit card number or billing details. See Paddle’s privacy policy at paddle.com/legal/privacy.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on our website (patr.app). This provides anonymous, aggregate visitor data with no cookies and no personal tracking. The Patr app itself contains zero analytics, zero tracking, and zero telemetry.
Patr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
